Task # 1
Our first assignment in my English 1101 class is to write a persuasive essay on creating an online professional image. What exactly is an online professional image, you might ask. Well the answer is simple. I just don't know it yet. But, with the help of my group, I am sure we will figure it out in the amount of time given to us. Now, I'm not completely oblivious to what an online professional image is. I know a little something. I know that you could potential jeopardize your professional image if you are not cautious about what you put on social media. Yeah that's right, what you put online now can be traced back to you 15 years from now. So be careful about what you put on social media. Don't put anything on social media that you would later regret or that would possibly come back to haunt you.
Writing to Learn.
I want to start with a little bit of my writing background. Now I must admit, writing has never been my forte. I have struggled with writing ever since I was in middle school. Its not that I didn't like writing, it was just always hard for me. I had trouble with catching the readers attention, staying on topic, I even had a little trouble with punctuation. Whenever the teacher would go over the writing assignment, I was the student that raised their hand after every explanation to get a further explanation. Yeah, I was that student. I would even stay after school to get some extra help with my papers. After doing that for a while and still not making an A on a paper, I asked my mom the get me a tutor and she did. I met with my tutor twice a week to practice writhing. I must say that that was one of the best thing my mom did for me in all my school years. My tutor helped me with writing better than my own teacher. She gave me a better understanding of the entire writing process. My tutor even said the same thing Mr. Hamon said on the first day of class. In order to get better at writing you must write everyday. We write to learn, so write everyday. Now, did I write everyday? No. So I thought. She said write to learn and I was. I took notes everyday in class. Writing notes helped me learn. So I kind of thought it was the same thing. I say all this to say, I do believe writing is the most essential way to learning. With every subject we study we have to write. Notes, and paper or anything we write. And I must admit, I do get better at it every time I write. When I got in Mr. Hamons class and he said we were going to be writing everyday, all I could do was think back to my writing days in middle school. I wasn't really excited about that at first, but I started to think of this as being a second opportunity to become a proficient writer. I am glad that I am taking this writing class and I cant believe I'm saying this, but I am looking forward to learning new writing skills in this class this year.

My Love for Food.
I love food. Its just that simple. Food has always had a special place in my heart and my stomach, of course. I've had a love for food ever since I was little. And I'm not just talking about eating food, I'm talking about cooking it as well. I remember the first time my mom let me help her make something. It was a chocolate cake. I remember it like it was yesterday; flour all over the floor, milk spilled on the counter and egg shells in the batter. It was a disaster needless to say. I was angry at myself the entire time because I wasn't doing anything right and the mess kept getting bigger and bigger. I was ready to give up and just forget and the cake, then my mom told me if I didn't help her finish I couldn't lick the spoon. I think you all know what I decided to do. I could just hear that chocolate covered spoon calling my name. Anyway, to make a long story short the cake came out great. Everyone that ate a piece of the cake loved it, and I was totally surprised. I just knew that the cake wasn't going to be good because I kept messing up while making it. Seeing everyone's reaction to my cake made me feel good. It felt great that I had made something that people actually enjoyed eating. That was the day I knew cooking was one of my passions. From that day forward I asked my mom if I could help her cook all the time. I learned so many different things about food by helping my mom cook. It was just something about experimenting with different herbs and spices that made cooking so exciting and interesting. Putting different foods together to see what goes best with what is so much fun to me. Noting knowing exactly how a new dish was going to come out never scared me. I was just always so excited and ready to eat my food. I love food and I always will. I will always continue to create new things and try new cuisines. I hope I will be able to make my fellow classmates something one day so that they'll know I'm not just all talk. Keep food in your life, its good for the soul and necessary for life. If you every get lost just remember keep calm and eat some food.
