Wikipedia- What Makes an Effective Introduction?

After reading a few well developed articles in Wikipedia, I've learned a couple of things that makes an effective introduction in an article. An introduction in a well developed article introduces the topic. It explains to you what the particular subject is or what it is about. It gives background. It states the facts. It gives you a clear outlook and understanding of the topic and make you want to continue reading to learn more.

I Learned Something New

As I have been reading my Wikipedia article I have been learning a ton of new things I never knew before. I always thought Cosmetology was just doing hair, nails and makeup. I never knew the depths of this specialty.

One thing I didn't know what that this career dealt with electrology. I had never even heard of that before, nor hearing it would make me think it relates to Cosmetology. Electrology is the practice of electrical epilation to permanently remove human hair.

After I learned exactly what it was, I still didn't think it should have anything to do with Cosmetology. I thought something like that should run along the lines of Dermatology.

My Wikipedia Topic

I know this is a little over due, but I just didn't know what I wanted my Wikipedia topic to be. There are so many things I am interested in and I just could seem to pick a topic. Even when I found different articles on Wikipedia, that I was interested in editing, they were pretty much done. They hardly needed any revising...

When I was younger, I used to love going to the hair salon with my mom and watching the hair stylist do hair. It was just something that interest me. I could braid hair very well at a very young age. I loved doing it and at the time I thought that that could be a career for me; braiding hair professionally.

I finally decided to do my topic on Cosmetology. Even though it is not my career choice now, it is something that I was interested in and something I do enjoy doing from time to time.

That wasn't Suppose to be Funny

For some reason, my best friend and I always find things that aren't necessarily funny funny. We laugh at the strangest things. Well, we tend to laugh at everything, but the strangest things are usually the funniest.

My friend has a scar on top of her lip. I had noticed it but I didn't really pay close attention to it like that. So one day when I was over her house, I asked her what happened, how did she get that scar, and she told me the story.

She told me that her mom had asked her to do something for her. She wanted to be rebellious and not do it. She told me that her mom had asked her to do once again and she told her mom to do it herself. Now, I still don't know if this is true or not, but she told me that her mom called her one more time and she said she told her mom that she wasn't going to do it. She told me that she walked in the living room, her mom called her and when she turned around, her mom threw a wrench, yes a wrench, at her and it hit her in the lip.

She told me that the wrench hit her so hard, she fell back and when she got up there was a hole, from where the wrench had hit her, on top of her lip. She said that there was blood everywhere. Her mom looked at her and said "see look what you made me do".

I couldn't help myself but laugh because it was just so funny to me. I knew her mom and her mom didn't seem like she would ever do anything like that.

That was the first story. I have one more for you. This story was also told to me by my friend.

My friend loves dogs. She has like 3 or 4 now but she had more. She used to have a dog named Prince. She always talked about how much she loved Prince.

One day she said she went outside to play with Prince. She said when she went outside it looked like he was sleeping. She tried to wake him by trying to scare him. Prince didn't move. She called his name and he still didn't respond. She push him and she said his mouth fell open and flys flew out.

After she told me that story she didn't talk to me for 3 three days because I started laughing so hard. She soon realized that how she found her dog was a little funny aas well.

Okay, those are just a couple of things I found funny. I hope you don't think I'm too weird for laughing at the things I do. I hope you enjoyed this post.

Men and Women Stereotypes.

I'm sure we have all heard at least one these stereotypes before. Men are stronger than women. Women are better cooks than men. Men are better at sports. Men drive better than women. The list goes on.

Is there really anything that makes a man superior to a woman and is there anything thing that makes a woman superior to a man. I have met plenty of men that are better cooks than women and I have met plenty, and I do mean plenty, of women that are way better drivers than men.

I think some people take stereotypes way too seriously. I personally don't think one is worse that the other. Some women are better at doing a "mans" job and some men are better at doing a "woman's" job.
